Population: 2,240 (1990 census). Total Zapotec speakers: 491,000 (2020 INEGI). 180 monolinguals.
Location:: Oaxaca state: Zimatlán district.
Language Status: 6b (Threatened).
Classification: Otomanguean, Eastern Otomanguean, Popolocan-Zapotecan, Zapotecan, Zapotec
Dialects: Zaachila. 75% intelligibility of Ocotlán [zac] (most similar). San Miguel Tilquiapan [zts] may be a dialect. A member of macrolanguage Zapotec [zap].
Language Use: Apparently no longer spoken in Santa Ana Zegache, and going out of use in Zaachila. Vigorous use among children in Santa Inés, some of whom are monolingual (1990). Some young people, all adults.
