Language Status: 9 (Dormant). Language of registered tribe: Wichita and Affiliated Tribes (Wichita; Keechi; Waco; Tawakonie).
Classification: Caddoan, Northern Caddoan
Dialects: Waco, Tawakoni. Reportedly similar to Kitsai [kii] and Pawnee [paw].
Language Use: Shifted to English [eng].
Language Development: Grammar. Extensive efforts to document and preserve the language by Wichita Documentation Project (Golla 2007).
