Population: 280 (Moore 2006). 1 speaker left in the Terra Indígena Paquiçamba in 1989 (Crevels 2007). Ethnic population: 360 (2006 FUNASA). 35 ethnic group members in the Tierra Indígena Paquiçamba (Crevels 2007).
Location:: Mato Grosso state: Xingu park, 2 villages; Maritsauu-Mitau river mouth; possibly also Pará state.
Language Status: 6a* (Vigorous).
Classification: Tupian, Juruna
Typology: 18 consonants and 15 vowels, contrasting in length and nasality.
Language Use: Vigorous. Many also use Portuguese [por], especially the younger generations and most men in Xingu Park; about half of the women understand it; elders are less fluent in it (2019 S. Graham).
