Population: 450 (2011 SIL). Speakers of other languages live at some of the Mouwase villages, especially Omati, and this may have skewed population figures. Speakers are widely scattered in bush villages, hamlets and squatter settlements.
Location:: Gulf province: Omati river.
Language Status: 6a (Vigorous).
Classification: Trans-New Guinea, Turama-Kikorian, Kaser
Dialects: None known. Lexical similarity: 58% with Ikobi [meb].
Language Use: Home, legal, traditional events, prayer, sporting events. Used by all. Positive attitudes. Most also use Hiri Motu [hmo] (Bullock 2015). Most also use Tok Pisin [tpi] (Bullock 2015). Used as L2 by Minanibai [mcv].
