Population: No known L1 speakers. Last known speaker survived into the 1990s (Bradley 2007b). Ethnic population: 1,500 (Bradley 2007a).
Location:: Kachin state: Bhamo district, upper Ayeyarwady gorges.
Language Status: 9 (Dormant).
Classification: Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Ngwi-Burmese, Burmish, Northern
Dialects: North Hpon, South Hpon.
Language Use: Southern dialect extinct; northern dialect moribund; some older people remember lexical items but none can speak it (Bradley 2007b). Shifted to Burmese [mya].
