Highland users have good language maintenance, those moving to the lowlands show attrition. Few domains. Some young people, all adults. More than half the children speak Dido. Positive attitudes. Also use Avar [ava], as a literary language. Used as L2 by Hinukh [gin].
Taught in primary schools. Dictionary.
