Language Status: 6b* (Threatened).
Classification: Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Benue-Congo, Bantoid, Southern, Tivoid
Dialects: Assaka (Adzu Balaka), Batanga (Adzu Batanga). Lexical similarity: 50% with Ipulo [ass], 40% with Balo [bqo], Osatu [ost], Iceve-Maci [bec], and Otank [uta], 35% with Esimbi [ags], 30% with Mesaka [iyo], 80% between the Assaka and Batanga dialects.
Language Use: Also use Cameroon Pidgin [wes]. Also use English [eng]. Used as L2 by Ipulo [ass].
