- Classification
- Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, Central-Eastern Malayo-Polynesian, Central Maluku, East, Seram, Nunusaku, Piru Bay, West, Hoamoal
- Dialects
- Allang, Wakasihu, Larike. The western end of the Ambon dialect subgroup. Lexical similarity: 81% among Allang, and Larike, and Wakasihu dialects; 92% between Larike and Wakasihu; 68%–71% with Asilulu [asl], 67%–72% with Negeri Lima dialect of Asilulu [asl].
- Language Use
- Vigorous use in Larike and Wakasihu, weak in Allang. Only older adults in Allang, Allang Asaude, Uraur, and Urusana still know Allang, but apparently do not use it. Some young people, all adults. Younger generation prefers regional or national language. Also use Indonesian [ind].
